I took a big risk in my first year of business, putting in a big wholesale order of peony roots in June, before I had even sold any flowers in my first growing season!
For roots and bulbs, orders have to be placed before they would be blooming in our growing zone. It was now- or loose a whole potential growing year for them to establish, I took the jump, and I am SO HAPPY I did!
Peonies are planted as ‘bare roots’ in the fall, and take 3 growing years to fully establish.
